Hiring a Personal Fitness Trainer in Beirut, Lebanon

Because when working with a personal trainer you're not only investing your money, but also your valuable time and putting your health on the line, take a minute to consider the following points when hiring a personal trainer:

Tip number #1- Health concerns

First and foremost, would you go to a doctor if he has no degree and has never been to medicine school? I guess not! Then why would you hire just any trainer and entrust him with your health, knowing that you see him a lot more than a doctor?

Tip number #2- Trainer Credentials

Again, it's your health we're talking about. That great shirt you bought the other day is going to fade, and your phone will be old technology next year, but your body is here to stay, and it's the only garment you will wear for the rest of your life. It's your responsibility to always ask your trainer for his credentials and check them on the website of his organization (certification body) to make sure they're valid.

Tip number #3- Trainer Knowledge

Not only do good trainers earn certifications, but they also spend a lot of time and money on attending costly seminars abroad to enrich their knowledge with the latest research. Fitness is an industry that is constantly bombarded by all kinds of myths (bro-science) and manipulated research. It is considered essential for any good trainer to always be exposed to all research, to arm themselves with new information and to always be reading about new training methods, workout principles, new nutrition findings, and to expand their knowledge with science and books to be of value to their clients. Don't hesitate to ask your trainer questions and get a feel of how immersed and passionate is he about training people and getting them results.

Tip number #4- Experience

Certifications without results are pure literature. Ask your trainer to show you the success stories of his clients. Their before/after pictures. It can speak volumes about how knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated your coach is. It can also mean they will get you results instead of waste your time at best and chronic injuries at worst.

Tip number #5- Communication

Your trainer should have the ability to communicate well: to truly understand your fitness goals, and work with you to achieve them. To listen to you, and to know how to communicate his training philosophy to you so that you see best results.

Tip number #6- Ethics

Because your trainer is likely to become your friend, trust ensues. A trainer should not share your personal information with others, or your pictures on social media without your consent.
